In August 2001, a California Appeals Court affirmed in Lance Camper Manufacturing Corp. v. Republic Indemnity Co. a $6.3 million award against the insurance company. The employer had accused Republic of inflating reserves, claims mishandling, and destroying files, among other infractions.
