Attorney Fees

Postby Danellle » April 16th, 2010, 10:12 am

I have been offered a CDA which seems reasonable to me. My attorney told me when I hired him that his business is based on volume due to laws which limit the amount he can collect on each case, which I understand. This all takes place in Portland, Oregon. He has been very helpful and I like him so far but I do try not to bother him unless I really need him. I can't find a copy of our retainer that we signed and I wondered legally what his fees on the CDA amount might be? As I have read and understand unless he works to collect more than the original offer, he doesn't collect part of the offer and only some "fees" outlined in the retainer? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You have to get and read the contract. I know of nothing in law where compensation is tied to collecting more than the original offer.
