California Workman's Comp Settlement

Postby gottahaveit » December 8th, 2005, 7:58 am

I have had 3 surgeries (carpal tunnel) on my hands and was rated 55% disabled by WC doctor. My settlement was quite low compared to what I have heard that other people have received for this same injury at a lower disability rating!
Questions: How is the settlement amount determined and what is the average(?) award for this type of disability at this rating? Also, if you feel the settlement was not fair, how long do you have to appeal the decision? And please just 1 more question - If you are dissatisfied with your lawyer (after settlement) what options do you have and time frame?
Appreciate help or any info!!

For three surgeries you should have received a substantial amount. I have heard of people receiving from $10,000 to $57,000 for carpal tunnel. What was your settlement amount and how long did it take your case to settle?
