This so-called professor has (or is trying to) receive(d) grants from insurance companies which makes his statement very self-serving. He doesn't need an education. If he's ever injured on-the-job he'll experience quickly and first-hand the disusting and cruel realities of workers' compensation. If an insurance carriers' delaying tactics put off necessary and crucial treatment (while reducing the final recovery percentage) for many months or even years (the starve out tactic) how can "anyone" have the audacity to claim it's the worker at fault or that he/she are lazy.
