hello? could anon. explain exactly how unions are corrupt? this story simply contends that money managers are the culprits, not the unions themselves (or their members). immediately jumping to the conclusion that the union is corrupt is only a sign that the organization behind this post is woefully blinded by its ideology and sadly unconvincing.

You are correct. I am very familar with this case. The union members were the big losers and were not guilty of anything. However, the trustees of these union plans (who in many cases are union business agents) were up to their eyeballs in this. The business agent for OPEU Local 11 encouraged the other trustees to keep the money with Capital Consultants even when this info was starting to come out. If he did not know something was wrong, then he was not doing his job. And, by the way, his son also worked for Capital Consultants. Just keeping it all in the family.
